Apprenticeship cooperation

“KRAMSKI meets IMO”

The training cooperation with IMO Oberflächentechnik GmbH has been in place for many years and gives the trainees an insight into a different professional field that is new to them. “A tried and tested tradition,” says Lena Daub, HR officer and trainer at KRAMSKI.

This year, the cooperation started with a visit to Königsbach-Stein. On June 1, 2024, 12 of our technical and commercial trainees made their way to the family business IMO Oberflächentechnik to experience the finishing of surfaces by electroplating live.

After a short round of introductions, an interesting company presentation was shown in which all the important facts and figures about IMO were presented. This was followed by a detailed tour of the company, during which our trainees were shown and explained in detail the various processes involved in electroplating individual parts, quality assurance and environmental technology. It quickly became clear that the profession of surface coater requires an enormous amount of knowledge and interest in chemistry.

The return visit to Pforzheim followed just one day later. As part of the cooperation, we welcomed the trainees from IMO to KRAMSKI. After a brief introduction to the company, they were given a tour of our premises. We went straight to the training workshop, where we gave our guests an insight into metal technology. From hybrid technology and the stamping shop to toolmaking and quality inspection, the IMO apprentices were shown and explained everything in detail. The IMO trainees recognized their own products, which they had already electroplated on their own systems. The newly acquired knowledge was then put to the test in a round of questions.

With collaborations like these, the theoretical part taught at vocational school becomes lively and practical. “For many years, the training project with IMO has offered trainees a mutual insight beyond the confines of their own professional field,” explains Markus Zahn, trainer at KRAMSKI, who is delighted with the exchange.

And so we definitely want to continue our training project with IMO in the next apprenticeship year and are already looking forward to the next round!
